Web Conferencing Guide

Communication and collaboration is the key to keeping things running smoothly in any business operation. Unfortunately, the thing that makes globalization of offices an asset to any business is the very same thing that poses a problem. Interaction, communication, and collaboration within the workplace are becoming increasingly difficult when clients, employees, and partners are located oceans away. Business processes began to suffer and travel costs become steeper. What’s the all-around solution to all this? Web conferencing guides.

Web conferencing guide is the live sharing of computer screen information and applications with other users over a network. A web conference may also be referred to as a net meeting, web meeting, online conference, web seminar, webinar, and so on. It provides you with a very convenient and powerful way to collaborate with one or more people in real time.

Basically, web conferencing guides allow you to run meetings, presentations, and demonstrations in a wholly online environment. Using only your web browser, your Internet connection, and your phone, you are virtually connected with other people. With web conferencing guides, you are allowed all sorts of options that include showing PowerPoint presentations, sharing common office documents, touring web sites, drawing on a shared “white board”, and even demonstrating and sharing applications remotely.

A basic feature of web conferencing guides is audio communication. And it is typically provided via audio conferencing tools, such as VoIP or normal telephony network.

The Categories of Web Conferencing Guides

There are two categories of web conferencing guides. These are web seminars and web meetings. Web seminars, also known as webinars, generally refer to “one-to-many” presentations for applications. Examples of this are marketing seminars, user groups, company meetings, training, and e-learning. In this web conferencing guide, the meeting presenter usually exhibits the most amount of control, delivering information to many hundreds of meeting participants, and keeping the flow and capabilities of the discussion. In web seminars, most information and interactions is planned in advance.

Web meetings on the other hand are a type of web conferencing guide that is smaller and more collaborative when compared to Web seminars. Web conferencing guides of this type are often one-to-one presentations in that there is but one presenter and usually one audience. It is typically used for sales meetings, customer reviews, collaborative design, media briefings, and contract reviews. In this type of web conferencing guide, all attendees are allowed to control the meeting and have the capability to present and interact with information. Of course, there is still the meeting organizer who serves as a mediator at best between each participant. Information sourced from participants from around the Internet can be dynamically created. They may also be reviewed and modified as the rest of the participants see fit and on the fly.
